Welcome to Kino-X – a next-generation education initiative built to expand opportunity, impact, and career readiness at the intersection of technology and culture. The mission of the Kino-Eye Center is straightforward: to inspire and empower individuals and communities to pursue epic goals. When we aim higher than most will attempt, we stretch our potential and push the bounds of what’s possible.

Over the past five years, our programs have served 30,000+ learners, educators, and innovators. I look forward to expanding these initiatives with our industry and community partners as we continue to evolve programming for a rapidly changing digital economy.

Biography

Filmmaker • Anthropologist • Tech Enthusiast • Leadership Specialist

Dr. Cesare Wright is a filmmaker, anthropologist, and leadership specialist whose career spans more than two decades at the intersection of media, technology, and education. His work bridges academic research, hands-on media production, and large-scale workforce initiatives designed to expand opportunity and impact.

Wright holds a Ph.D. in Visual & Cultural Studies and an M.A. in Art History from the University of Rochester, an M.F.A. in Cinematic Arts from the University of Southern California, and three undergraduate degrees from Rice University in Visual & Dramatic Arts, Cultural Anthropology, and Art & Art History, with advanced coursework in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science.

He has served as Assistant Professor of Communication and Director of Graduate Programs at the University of St. Thomas, where he created and launched the M.A. in Digital Media & Emergent Technology. At Rice University, he served for seven years as a Lecturer and Leadership & Outreach Specialist in the George R. Brown School of Engineering, where he co-developed and helped launch the Rice Center for Engineering Leadership (RCEL).

As President of the Kino-Eye Center for Visual Innovation (501(c)(3)), Wright leads a portfolio of industry-supported initiatives with partners including Microsoft, Chevron, BP, NASA/Space Center Houston, Intel, and the City of Houston. He designed and directs Microsoft EPIC, Microsoft FAST, and Microsoft VIP, serving more than 30,000 learners in recent years, and launched the Kino-X studio experience space at Memorial City Mall as a hub for digital media production and hands-on training.

Beyond academia and education, Wright is an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose projects have taken him to over 30 countries. His work has been featured by National Geographic, CNN, MSNBC, and international film festivals. He also appears regularly on KHOU Great Day Houston, FOX 26 News, and other outlets to discuss AI, AR/VR, media ethics, workforce development, and the future of technology.
